It's true.
My fellow nerds, I understand you. Inside me still beats the heart of a socially awkward, poorly dressed, introverted 13-year-old. If you, too, can name the second officers in every incarnation of Star Trek, have a comic book collection which is taking up way too much space, or can find Osgiliath on a map of Middle Earth, then we are siblings beneath the skin.
At some point, though, we all run into situations where we have to do more than just tolerate the people around us. We actually have to show interest in them, speak to them in a language other than Klingon, and even make (shudder) small talk. I'm here to tell you that it can be done and it's really not as hard as you might think. With this blog I hope to record the lessons I've learned over the last decade and more as a business owner and closet nerd. My hope is that those who come after me will find it a little easier than I did.
No matter what, though, never give up on your inner nerd. We enjoy life just as much or mare than the Beautiful People and we don't have to work nearly as hard to do it. Remember, as Louis Skolnik said in The Revenge of the Nerds "We have news for the beautiful people. There's a lot more of us then there are of you."
